AlicanteAlicante's exceptional location between the mountains and the sea provides the city with a special kind of enrapturing beauty. The city, wherever one roams, is pervaded with the flavour of the beach and the sea. Alicante, with its beautiful boulevard and pleasant shopping street, is one of the most well-known towns on the Costa Blanca. The coast of Alicante and the Costa Blanca owes its name to the beaches stretching for several kilometers and attracts many sun worshippers and pleasure seekers. the city is dominated by the Castillo de Santa Barbara, set on a rocky peak. However, Alicantes immediate pride is its grand Explanada, lined with date palms, and shops.
Immediately in front is a very pleasant
cafe lined port, and just metres away is one of the many beaches that
Alicante is renown for.
With many
historical buildings around the entire city, Alicante offers countless
sightseeing attractions, from cathedrals to churches and of course a
wonderful harbour area. Perhaps becuase it is on the Mediterranean - the city invites you to take a trip along the coast or to the wonderful island of Tabarca. Daily ferried take you to this small and very interesting island. Well worth the day trip. Castillo de Santa Barabra was originally built as a Carthaginian fortress about 3 BC. This is the dominate feature in Alicante (you cant miss it!) and has a speculator birds-eye view of the city. Nightlife: |
